Professor J.M. Stewart - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Scientific Officer

Prof. Stewart was full professor in the biochemistry program at Mount Allison University until his early retirement in 2009. Prof. Stewart has twice been the recipient of the institution’s top award (the Pare Award) for excellence in teaching and excellence in research.

The major focus of Prof. Stewart’s lab was metabolic adaptations in animals, and protein biochemistry and was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Early soricidin research was supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Prof. Stewart has authored about 30 research articles and many conference presentations, as well as invited contributions to books and the Encyclopedia of Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine.
